Special Programs
Audubon Arc
comes to Sharon Country Day four times during the camp season. Arc programs
bring native, local wildlife and traditional New England farm animals to our
site. A teacher Naturalist provides opportunities for observation and learning
by using live animals and a variety of related hands on materials. Campers are
encouraged to point out what they notice and what they are curious about.
Discussion involves animal behavior, communication, adaptations, and inteactions.
Various programs include turtles, broad wing hawks, opossum, horned owl, woodchuck, snake, skunk, goose, crow, Kestrel, Barred owl, lamb, mallard, etc.
All rainy day activities are under the direction of the Drama/Theatre Director and also the Camp Director. Programs vary from large screen, age appropriate movies, talent and variety shows, bingo with prizes, and carnivals, to individual bunk activities with our camp specialists including arts & crafts, Native American, sing a longs, and indoor games, etc.
Over the years some of our most enjoyable and fun times have been associated with our well planned rainy day programs.

Sharon
Country Day offers optional overnight sessions for children entering grades 3-5
and grades 6-9. The youngsters sleep in cabins and are served delicious meals.
In the late afternoon, all the facilities of the camp are available to campers
for use in supervised free play. Evening activities after supper include
special events such as movies, rollerblading, (United Skates of America),
campfires, etc.

We limit the enrollment to 60 campers per overnight session enabling us to maintain the excitement of group participation, while still being able to provide maximum coverage for the well-being of the individual youngster. Overnights are extremely popular and fill up very quickly.
The entire program is under the personal supervision of the Director and the Head Counselor assisted by key personnel from the staff.
